School Break Days

During my winter break I was able to go out much more than what I do when I go to school. I had what is called a posada in my house which are the nine posadas leading to Christmas eve or Noche Buena. Christmas in Mexico continues through January 6th known as El Dia De Los Reyes Magos. Traditionally this is the day Mexican children receive their gifts, with growing international influence they sometimes receive gifts on both days. We celebrate Christmas honoring the nativity or birth of our savior. A posada is the reenactment of the Census pilgrimage to Bethlehem by Mary and Joseph los peregrinos in search of a room or place to stay because of Mary who is giving birth to our savior. These reenactment are held from December 16th through December 25. A posada is similar to a Christmas fest only to the purpose of celebrating our savior's birth. We have food of course all kinds of Mexican food, candy bags known as Aguinaldo, and piƱatas. The first two posadas were held in my house and
