The 25 Building Blocks of the
Pyramid of Success
Block 1:Industriousness
"In plain and simple English this means hard work. Very hard work. There is no substitute for very hard work when it comes to success."
There has never been a case where someone reached success with no hard work. As a matter in fact those people that are successful had many obstacles in life. Hard work pays off, when you least expect it. It is a matter of how bad to want to succeed or achieve something or at something. If you want something in life you have to get out there and get it. Nothing will fall from the sky to please us, instead we will be thrown rocks at. It is up to one self whether to keep walking or not. For example is you want to pass a math test , but instead of studying you go on social media, then your results wont be the way you expect them to be.
"Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do."
~Pele~
Block 2:Enthusiasm
"It is the engine that powers all blocks of the Pyramid. It is why I chose Industriousness and Enthusiasm as the cornerstones of my Pyramid of Success. It is where everything begins."
Hard work is not enough, it must be inspired by something. to raise to the level of extra ordinary required for success. That should be your enthusiasm. It is how much or how bad you really want something that your eager or interest will get you there. For example i could wan the best makeup, the best brushes, or a makeup vanity. I may work hard for it but if I just do it to be competitive with others girls then my inner interest will be very low. But if I really want it for myself to store my makeup because i know i need it and that is a goal then my interest is not the same i will work harder to know that at the end it was all a goal , a dream, a wish...etc. Only one self can define whether we are obligated to do something or not. If you are not interested in the hard work you are putting in then change something about it or maybe that is not for you.
"There is a certain enthusiasm in liberty, that makes human nature rise above itself, in acts of bravery and heroism."
~Alexander Hamilton~
Block 3: Friendship
"Comes from mutual esteem, respect and devotion. Like marriage it must not be taken for granted but requires a joint effort."
The two qualities of friendship is respect and camaraderie. along comes trust because a friend is someone we can trust.Friend ship is a relationship that you have build with another person. Thus could be a family member a sibling a friend.etc. There can be good friends and there can be bad friends. For example bad friends or so called friends are the ones that bad influence you to do something you don't want to do. Then there are real friends that always stick out for you and are there in your good and bad times.I consider my mom my only best friend because there will be no other person that can care, love, and influence me the way she does.
"Friends show their love in times of trouble, not in happiness."
~ Euripides~
Block 4: Loyalty
"To yourself and to all those depending upon you. Keep your self-respect."
Loyalty is a strong feeling of support, or the quality of being loyal to someone or something. The lack o f loyalty is the number one thing why relationships do not work out. Loyalty in a relationship is being faithful to ones oath or engagement. In most relationships one of the partners ends up cheating or not being faithful to their relationship. Being faithful can show a sign of respect to your partner not only that but to them it may have more meaningful manifestations. Loyalty can be seen as many ways. For example when you are loyal to your partner it brings happiness to them knowing that their place or role plays an important part of your life that can not be exchanged or replaced.
The term ambition stands for a strong desire to do or to achieve something, typically requiring determination and hard work. It is more than a need, it is a want. There can be good ambitions and bad ambitions, some people think bad ambitions are good others think otherwise. For example a bad ambition is when someone is ambitious with money they look for any possible way for them to be able to sustain more and more although they already have enough. Like in a relationship when one of the partners is with the other just because of their money not because they really love them. An example of a good ambition is to work your way up to have that money. Money is not happiness as others have said but what makes you happy is how you achieved to get that money. You may come from a poor family and your ambition is to give your family everything they ever wanted because you know how hard their struggles were. Which is why you think of achieving goals accomplishing your dreams as well. Money can not buy happiness but it is the way you work your way to where you wanted to be or want to be that brings you that happiness.
"Ambition is the path to success. Persistence is the vehicle you arrive in."
"The secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old, but on building the new."
"Success is the result of perfection, hard work, learning from failure, loyalty, and persistence."
~Colin Powell~
Block 5:Cooperation
"With all levels of your co-workers. Listen if you want to be heard. Be interested in finding the best way, not in having your own way. "
The root of cooperation is working together to the same end. Meaning working as a team to determine a task for the benefit of all. Sharing ideas, information, responsibilities, creativity, and task is a priority of good leadership and great teams. Which can all apply to cooperation. For example in engineering not only one person builds a building or constructs a road. In engineering they work as a team there is a leader but just as the leader is in charge of making sure everybody cooperates equally. One can be in charge of the blue print the other of the diagram and so on. Success is something accomplished as a team because once you help others succeed then your success comes. Another example is during a surgery. In order for the doctor to perform the task he is in need of a assistant team to help him with the tools and to make sure the patient stays alive.
"Unity is strength... when there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved."
~Mattie J.T. Stepanek~
Block 6: Ambition
For noble goals
The term ambition stands for a strong desire to do or to achieve something, typically requiring determination and hard work. It is more than a need, it is a want. There can be good ambitions and bad ambitions, some people think bad ambitions are good others think otherwise. "Ambition is the path to success. Persistence is the vehicle you arrive in."
Block 7: Self-Control
"Practice self-discipline and keep emotions under control. Good judgement and common sense are essential."
Self control is the ability to control oneself , in particular ones emotions and desire of expression of them in ones behavior, especially in difficult situations. Self control is the ability to subdue our impulse in order to achieve long term goals. Rather than responding to immediate impulse, we can plan, evaluate alternative actions, and, often enough, avoid don't thing we'll regret later. For example when you are on a diet or trying to loose weight and you manage to control your desires or appetite form making you eat more than what you have to. Another example can be during an argument, by usual there is always one person to challenges or wants to fight for some reason but one of them manages to control themselves and not hit because they know they will end up in a worse situation. Besides fighting won't help solve the problem between them.
"Feelings are much like waves, we can't stop them from coming, but we can choose which one to surf."

Block 8: Alertness
"Be observing constantly. Stay open-minded. Be eager to learn and improve."
The concept of Alertness is activeness. Also is is the state of being constantly attentive and responsive to signs of opportunity, activity, or danger. Being alert is an essential to learning and performance. There is activity going on around us all the time form which we can acquire knowledge if we have alertness. Too often we get tunnel into a vision and do not see the full picture, which prevents learning things that are available. Students who sustain a appropriate level of alertness are characterized as being vigilant or fully engaged in school activities. For example when attending to a lecture, reading a textbook, writing a report, or solving mathematical problems.
“Opportunity does not waste time with those who are unprepared. Always be careful of where you run to. When the going gets tough, take it easy and slow down, else you venture into the den of lions.”
Block 9: Initiative
"Cultivate the ability to make decisions and think alone. Do not be afraid of failure, but learn from it."
Initiative is the ability to act. Simple as that. You must prepare thoroughly in all ways. Taking initiative is the practice of looking for ways that you can contribute to your team, department, or organization and taking action. The biggest known reason for people to not take initiative is fear. Fear of failure, fear of what people might say, fear at what people might think... etc. The cure to fear as known is to do what you fear in order to overcome your fears. In today's economy jobs are in high demand. However business owners and managers are in constant lookout for people who take initiative and strive to add the extra. Taking initiative is an important key, because that makes you standout from the others. I don't mean you are better but you seem like you can undertake a situation by volunteering or beginning.
Block 10: Intentness
"Set a realistic goal. Concentrate on its achievement by resisting all temptations. Be determined and persistent."
Block 11: Sincerity
Keeps friends
The Latin root of sincerity means whole and pure. Sincere people tend to maintain positive in social situations, and stay honest and free form pretense. In other words is to stay to to yourself and others. Be yourself, act like yourself, and walk for yourself. The worst thing that can happen is trying to be someone you are not and ending up in a situation you didn't want to be in the first place. Be yourself , do not try to be someone else. sincerity is not to say everything you think but to mean everything you say. For example when dating the first mistake that is committed is saying "I Love You." Sometimes the human brain tends to confuse and mixes feelings. It tends to happen when you have a close relationship with a person from the opposite sex.Yet other times the guy uses those words as a key words to get a girl. He expresses his love for her when in reality all he wants is one night in bed with the girl.
Block 12: Adaptability
To any situation
Adaptability is the state of being able to adjust to new conditions.Being willing and able to adapt your behavior increases your ability to communicate and build relationships with others. Developing your adaptability allows you to understand how different types of people would like to be treated. It doesn't mean mocking the others person behavior. It means to adjust your behavior to be more aligned to the others persons preference. The effectively adaptable person meets the persons needs and his owns. He knows how to negotiate relationships that allows everyone to win. Now adaptability doesn't just apply to behavior it can also apply to environment, work , or routine. For example to get to your success you have to do some adjustments that may be hard to accept , bu that is where the term adaptability comes in. You adapt not because it is needed or because you have to. You adapt to something when you know that through that process it is going to take you to where you want to go. So if you want to reach your success and have to stop the bad habits then you are going to adapt to good habits.
"The secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old, but on building the new."
Block 13:Condition
"Mental-Moral-Physical. Rest, exercise and diet must be considered. Moderation must be practiced. Dissipation must be eliminated."
Condition means the state of something, in regard to its appearance, its quality, and work order. In everything we do we have mental moral and physical condition. We can not have one and not the other. You must be in physical condition ,but you must also have mental and moral condition. All three are components in this block of the pyramid. It is for all human benefit to keep these in mind and actually perform them in your own way. Not everyone has the same way to practice mental conditions the same. everyone has their own way of doing things and may end up with the same results.
Block 14:Skill
"A knowledge of and the ability to properly and quickly execute the fundamentals. Be prepared and cover every little detail."
Skill is the ability to do something well. It can a particular ability or of ones desire. Skill can be seen or identified in different ways. For example when applying for an office job they may require you to have computer skills. What they mean by that is the you need to have some experience with computers in order for you to go in that work field. However some people say that they were born with the skills to do something. For example several artists may say that since they were born they loved to sign, or paint. By that it doesn't mean you can not out stand them or give up on whatever you want to do. A football player was not just born a football player they managed to practice and practice until they felt confident and ready. We learn from our mistakes when we acknowledge that we make mistakes. It is important that when you are obtaining skills or want to manage those skill you look into every detail, every mistake and how you can improve your way.
Honesty is not just about saying the truth, but how you act and if you truly mean it or not.Honesty is an important value because it contributes to a positive mindset and facilitates morally acceptable behavior. Honesty is an important life skill for all people, but mostly beneficial for children. Young people who adopt honest behavior are more likely top be successful in life. Children at a young age are like sponges they absorb anything that is heard and said, which is why it is important to talk to children with honesty and show them the importance of it. Children who see their parents and those around them adopting positive behavior such as honesty and integrity are inclined to to follow their leads and exhibit those positive attitudes. Honesty is sometimes a difficult trait to mimic, particularly for those who are unwilling to admit wrongdoings, but nevertheless inspire others to act accordingly.
"Hire character, train skill."
Block 15: Team Spirit
"A genuine consideration for others. An eagerness to sacrifice personal interests of glory for the welfare of all."
Team has become the foundation of an organization. Today in most schools projects are now done in groups and graded in groups because it has shown that when working together people work better. Team Spirit is willingness of each member of a team or group to work together with loyalty and enthusiasm. The point of a team if to get to socialize with people and to focus on a win-win choice. Meaning to take in count everyone's opinion and to come up with something that will benefit the whole team not just one member. Sometimes one self has to sacrifice personal interest to help another or to improve in a work area. Team spirit can apply any where. For example a family qualifies as a team and depending on their spirit is how well they will get along . Now if the family sits and communicates and talks about how problems can be solved without hurting one or another then their spirit will be more positive. Team spirit is the foundation to your success. Because you reach your success when you see someone else succeed.
Block 16: Honesty
In thought and action

"The most free person in world is the one who has nothing to hide."

Block 18: Poise
"Just being yourself. Being at ease in any situation."
Graceful and elegant bearing in a person.
Poise means holding fast to your principals and beliefs and acting in accordance with them regardless of how bad or good the situation may be. Know who you are and be true to yourself. Just be yourself. Do not pretend to be what you are not. Leaders with poise do not panic under pressure. Sometimes it is best to get a hold of things before they fall apart. Even if you think you are not capable of, take the challenge and do it with confidence do not let others see that you are not sure of what you are doing. It is not lying or following but it is taking a challenge a challenge is known as a competition or a goal that goes further than what others think or do. Sometimes we ourselves don't know what we are capable of until we do it, or adapt to it. A leader is always a role model who's head is held up straight and a great posture.
"Fake it till you make it."
Block 19: Confidence
"Respect without fear. May come from being prepared and keeping all things in proper perspective."
Confidence is an important principal that we all humans need. It is what takes us to success and makes us believe that we can. Confidence is the feeling of self assurance arising from ones appreciation or ones own abilities or qualities. Sometimes low self esteem is what prevents us from doing what we desire. For example when a girl feels she is bigger next to other girls or she feel ugly. That is low self esteem and lack of confidence. Sometimes people feel this way because they have been judged or they have been through failure and begin to think they are not capable of. To be able to reach your success and get somewhere in life you need confidence, you need to be able to trust yourself. To take risks and fall, get up and keep on going but there is no going back .
"Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy."
Block 20: Reliability
Creates respect
Block 21:Fight
Block 22: Competitive Greatness
" Be at your best when your best is needed. Enjoyment of a difficult challenge."
Competitive Greatness is having a real love for the hard battle knowing it offers the opportunity to be at your best when your best is required. Sometimes competitive is seen as trying to do better, or outdo the other guy. Although that that is not not the aspect in this case, you have no control over the other guy the only control you have is of your own abilities. Everyday is a challenge and rising to a challenge is what makes an individuals succeed in life and their careers. The idea is come up with different ideas to solve a problem or to improve, but not to be there than anyone else. Sometimes people take wrong decisions and cheat their way , they may take others credit or just lie their way in.
"While most are dreaming of success, Winners wake up and work hard to achieve it."

Block 23: Integrity
Purity of intention
The definition of integrity is the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles. Having integrity means doing the right thing in a reliable way.Its a personality trait that we admire, since it means a personal has moral compass that doesn't waver. It literally means having wholeness, of character. Just like an integer is a whole number without fractions. Some examples of integrity include consistency, honesty, truthfulness or accuracy. Consistency is about being the same regardless of the situation. As a leader you can not show your down falls, although there are a leader has to show how to get up ten times harder than the fall. A leader always speaks with truth no matter what. It is better for you to tell a person before they find out buy others. It is a logical reason for a leader who wants others to success to show their true intention and be integrity with others.
"Better is a poor man who walks in his integrity than a rich man who is crooked in his ways."
Block 24: Faith
Believe and Achieve
Faith is when you have complete trust or confidence of someone or something without taking in mind others believes. There is a saying that goes Forget all the reasons why it won't work and Believe the one reason why it will. Meaning do not bring yourself down because of all the bad sides to it and just give up. Persevere resist believe in the one reason you have to keep on going. If you have faith and believe hard enough you will make it happen. Sometimes people say " If you really wanted to you cold of had made it happen," that is because we do things unwantingly or we just don't have a strong reason why. For example people who believe in god, they have faith in him and believe he is real even though they can not see him. It is a principle of trust in religion and your own beliefs. For you to succeed in life you have to have you beliefs strong and make sure to know what is it that you want in order for you to work hard for it.
"Keep your dreams alive. Understand to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication. Remember all things are possible for those who believe."
Block 25: Patience
Good things take time
People sometimes have alack of patience, which affects them in many ways. Patience is the capacity to accept or tolerate delay. In other words you have no rush because you are able to wait for your turn or your time. Put it this way when you plant a bamboo tree you cannot expect it to grow right away. It takes a bamboo tree to grow from height up to five years. It first spreads theirs roots down and to the sides. After five years is when the bamboo tree begins to grow very drastically. Very similar to most college students, when students get out of college people expect them to have a job, study, and be out having fun. It is not really that way, it is not that easy, it may be for some students, but for others they have it harder. For example students that come from a low income family they want to rush their career to be able to help their family but it all take s time and patience. Like my mom has always told me do not act in the heat of the moment.
" It may take a year, it may take a day, but whats meant to be will always find its way."
